Jackie Rankin M.B.E.

Rainey members were saddened to hear of the passing of club member Jackie Rankin recently following an illness.


Although now residing in Limavady, Jackie was a committed supporter and sponsor of the club.

While at school in Rainey Endowed he played at prop for the First XV and was also a sprint champion. After school he played for the ‘Old Boys’ and derived great satisfaction when they achieved Senior status in 2006. He was a regular at the games and pre-match lunches.


Jackie was a former Mayor of Limavady and will be missed by his friends at Rainey.


We extend our sympathies to his daughter Tanya and her family.
