Regional League South 18th November 2017
Scorers: Lawrence(1*Try), Andrews(1*Try), Crooks(2*Try), Hall(1*Try), Gordon(1*Try), Lloyd-Evans(3*Conv, 1*Pen)
Three tries in the last fifteen minutes enabled Rainey OB III to pull clear for a 44-17 victory over Dromore II in Regional League South. Although midway through the second-half, the outcome was in the melting pot, the next try was likely to prove vital and it was Rainey who scored it when back-row man Lawrence took a pass from McSwiggan to go clear.
In perfect conditions, flanker Andrews stormed through a big gap in the centre to score at the posts, Lloyd-Evans converting. Dromore bounced back when Rainey failed to put the ball downfield, instead running the ball in their own 22'. Their response was almost immediate. Working a wraparound move in midfield, centre Friel glided through for a fine try which Lloyd-Evans improved with a great kick. Lynch then fed wing Crooks with an inside pass for try number three.
Dromore were first to strike after the break and looked likely to cash in again on some slack Rainey handling until Lloyd-Evans took a quick tap for Hall to cross for another converted try. Dromore made the most of a Rainey mistake to stay in the picture, but a penalty put a little more daylight between the sides. Dromore faded in the closing minutes as it became obvious that it was not going to be their day. Gordon galloped along the touchline for a late score and there was still time for Crooks to claim his second try.
